Civilians keep dying in Gaza and Lebanon after announced ceasefires
UN OCHA reports 74,032 Palestinians killed in Gaza to 30 September 2026 (Gaza health ministry figures) and 4,324 deaths in Lebanon since 2 March. Killing continued after announced ceasefires.
How this affects people
The Gaza figures are compiled by the Gaza Ministry of Health, which OCHA notes operates under the de facto authorities. OCHA states that figures not yet verified by the UN are attributed to their source, and the Ministry has identified 71,444 of the deaths by name as of 31 December 2025, including 21,283 children and 10,983 women. In Israel, about 1,200 people were killed on and after 7 October 2023, according to Israeli media citing official sources as tabulated by OCHA.
Humanitarian access remains restricted: Kerem Shalom has been the only operating cargo crossing into Gaza since 24 May 2026, and OCHA lists restrictions on access to 65 per cent of Gaza's land as a key obstacle. In Lebanon, 334,353 people were still displaced on 26 August 2026 and the flash appeal was 52% funded.

The future leaves room for choices. Compare the outlooks, check what supports them and notice where the evidence becomes less certain
Deaths continue after the ceasefires
OCHA reports 1,431 people killed and 5,026 injured in Gaza since the 10 October 2025 ceasefire announcement (Gaza Ministry of Health), and 344 fatalities in Lebanon since the 20 June 2026 ceasefire announcement.
The future is not a timetable. These summaries reflect published scenarios and trends, with deeper uncertainty at longer horizons. Choices made now matter.
